Republicans believe in strong national defense, individual rights, limited taxation, pro marriage and anti abortion. The strengths would be the strong national defense and pro marriage. You have to have a strong national defense to protect use on our borders. Pro marriage, the republicans are for tradtional marriages and against gay amrriage. The weadness would be anti abortion, if some girl gets rapped and kidnapped and she ends up getting pregenet then would you want her to have the chance to have an abortion.

The strengths are goverment for low income citizens, then the citizens that arent as fortunet as some of us will get money from the goverment to pay their bills. The weaknesses would be pro choice and gay marriage. Pro choice is when you can have an abortion at any time you want one. Which I dont think is right. Gay marriage isnt a traditional marriage and there are many people against it and it is also against the bible.
Bandwagon to me is a good propaganda use because it shows that since some people are going to vote for him then you should to. A good use of propaganda would be just plain folks. When candidates act as plain people they can reach out to more people.
(A) Republicans are a more conservative political party. Strengths associated with Republicans I believe are lower taxes and also their thoughts on marriage and abortion. Lower taxes would benefit many citizens because their money well earned would not be taken from them. Marriage was made for a man and woman and should stay that way. Then, in my opinion I believe abortion is murder. A weakness of this party is their eagerness to engage in war. It’s a good thing to want to defend our county but sometimes things should be thought through a little more thoroughly. Democrats also have their own sets of pros and cons. A strength of theirs is that they reach out to the more in need part of society to ensure they are receiving what they should such as medical treatment. A weakness would be extremely high taxes to pay for this medical treatment and other programs.
ReplyDelete(B) Propaganda plays a major role in who America votes for during elections. To me the most effective type of propaganda would be either stacking cards or the scientific approach. By using the stacking cards method candidates would get out all their good deeds. Most of the time people would just hear these things and believe them without questioning thinking "wow there’s just no bad side to this guy". Then by using the scientific approach you receive facts and statistics to figure out for yourself what’s most important to take care of in America. The least effective propaganda type for me would be bandwagon. I would not set my own thoughts and opinions aside just to be like everyone else.

For me, a weakness for the republicans is that they are against they are against abortion. I don't think that either of those are okay, but if the mother's life is in danger and needs to abort i think she should be able to. I think that all of the types of propaganda are good, but the most effective ones I think are bandwagon, just plain folks and scientific approach. I think that it is really true that usually if someone hears that a lot of people are voting for a certain candidate they usually go with the crowd, I'm not saying it happens all the time but it happens. When you hear/see that a person is very much like an ordinary person, this makes a lot of people feel like they have a connection and it makes you want to vote for the candidate. Finally scientific approach is really good too because they give you the facts straight up,and it makes you feel like facts don't lie. If they are good statistics, and the candidate is doing really good, you feel like you should vote for him.

B] There are many different types of propaganda that people use. Bandwagon, which means that you vote for something or do something just because everyone is doing it. Personally, I do not believe in this because just because someone does something, do NOT mean that you have to do it too. Just plain folk, meaning the candidate is just like you, is very personable and heart warming. I would be more likely to vote for someone who i thought related to me, than someone who seemed up tight and different. Stacked cards, which is when you get just the facts about something, can be good and bad. The good of it is that you get straight to the point of what you are trying to say. The bad is that you might not get the whole truth. The candidate is going to tell you "just the facts" which is probably only the good part of something. Emotional appeal, when the candidate uses your emotions to get you to vote for them, is probably one of the best forms of propaganda. The reason is that the candidate uses an event or topic to trigger your emotions so that you will vote for them.

Low taxes are a strength because what person wants to pay high taxes? The people who don't will want to support the republicans. Low taxation is also a weakness because if taxes are not high enough the country will face the possibility of going into debt. Anti-abortion and pro marriage are strengths because the people who are against gay marriage and abortion will support the republican party. This also doubles as a weakness because people who are for abortion and gay marriage will not be as likely to support the party.

The strengths in supporting pro choice and gay marriage are the democratic party will gain the support of people that agree with their views on abortion and gay marriage. The downside to this is that they will lose the support of people that disagree with their views. Supporting low income families, in my opinion, doesn't have a positive side. I think that many of people who use these welfare plans don't try to do anything to help their situations. They are just getting free money and increasing the countries deficit. Those are what I think the strengths and weaknesses of the republican and democratic party are.

Politicians can use it to scare people into voting for them, anger people into not supporting his or her opponent, or to pity people into voting for them. An example of this is when a politician says "If you vote for Bob he's going to let murderers out of jail and they could kill you and your family." This, even though it is over exaggerating, can frighten people into not supporting Bob and voting to the other candidate.

In some ways they are similar because they are using actual facts that has happened to support their election. But in some way they dont tell the negatives in those uses of propaganda.

For the republicans the great thing for them is that they are against abortion, pro marriage, low taxes and beleive that the people should make the decisions. The only bad thing is that the republican party is currently doing bad because of all the critisism George W. Bush took and it has gave the republican party a bad name. For Democrates some of the good things are taht they want everybody to have health care. That is the biggest problem i had with Barack Obama election. It defeats the whole purpose of being a Republic because you are still letting other people make your decisions for you. Republicans are big on lowing taxes but they try to take to much control over how an American citizen lives there life.Demacrats are big for health care but they try to tax people more than they should. I like their ideas on lower taxes but they do tend to have more control over citizens and their rights, such as the right to gay marriage, which they disagree with. Democrats on the other hand, I believe, are always trying to find new things to tax us on. They are looking for ways to put money in their own pockets and focus less on making the citizens of their country, America, happy. I also don't believe that their new idea of the health care system is going to work as well as they think. I think it will put more people out of jobs and hurt citizens more than it will help them.

Students in high schools even us this method when they try to persuade other students to do the things they are doing. Political candidates say "everyone else is doing it, why not you?" and it makes citizens want to fit in and be accepted. They also use the method of card stacking in making citizens vote for them during elections. It helps by giving a person more reasons for voting for the candidate. The more good things they have to say about themselves, the more it will out weigh the opponent. The transfer method is also effective. In this situation a candidate blames or bashes his/her opponent and attempts in making them look bad. Which makes the choice clear and they recieve the vote in elections.
[A]Libertarians feel that no one should be forced to sacrifice their rights or freedoms for the benefit of others. Some strengths of this political party would be their decisions on Abortion and Personal Relationships. They realize that abortion is a sensitive issue, and feel that the government should leave the decision to the people. If someone decides to have an abortion, that's their decision and the government should not have a say so. They also believe that personal relationships should be left personal and the government shouldnt decide for you so to speak. A weakness would deffinatly be Personal Liberty. This says that citizens should be free to make choices for themselves. I took this as the people can do what they want when they want as long as it isnt harming others. That in itself is bad because many people would push limits.

Just plain Folks is an okay thing because it is telling voters that a candidate is a regular person "just like them". Emotional appeal, a candidate's attempt to make you feel bad or sorry or guilty about something. That would not be something that I like because I don't like people trying to make me feel sorry etc. Scientific approach is the use or research. Statistics or studies to prove how/why a candidate is good or bad. That is okay because they are trying to see if the candidate is a good person or bad I don't blame them, because I would want to know to. [A] In the Republican Political Party I think it has both weaknesses and strengths. A weakness that the Republican Party now has is that the leader of the United States is not one of them. If the President was a Republican, the Republican Political Party would have the advantage over the Democratic Party. Whichever Party the President is in, has not only the United States’ leader on their side, they also have the majority of the citizens on their side.
ReplyDeleteA strength the Republican Political Party has is more religious followers. One reason people are Republicans is because they interpret abortion through the bible. Most people’s interpretation of abortion through the bible is that abortion is murder. So the Republicans have the strength of religious people behind them.
In the Democratic Political Party I think that the weakness is mainly focused on their plan for a new Health Care system. A lot of people support the thought of a new Health Care system now, but I know that in the future when people realize how expensive it is, they will regret supporting it. I think if the people realize this, the President and all the others who came up with this “great” Health Care system are going to have a lot of angry and broke people knocking at their doors.
A strength the Democratic Political Party has is the President. The President is a Democrat and supports the Democratic Party and most if not all the ideas it has. So the Democrats have the advantage of the United States’ leader and the majority of its citizen’s support.
[B] I get different impressions from each different type of propaganda, but the one that I believe is the most effective is the Bandwagon technique. It is the most effective because most people would rather follow everyone else than venture off by themselves and look different. A good example of the Bandwagon technique would be a governmental campaign. If the candidate made a commercial saying that every US citizen should vote for him because so many others already had. He would be utilizing the Bandwagon because he would be encouraging the US citizens to vote for him saying that many others had already voted for him.
I think that the most inefficient type of propaganda would be the Transfer technique. I believe this because it is shallow and conceited for someone to blame another person for his or her own mistakes. An example of the Transfer type of propaganda would be an actor’s public interview. The movie an actor was in was unsuccessful and many people blamed him or her for the failure. During the actor’s first public interview he or she decides to clear his or her name for a shot at another movie by saying that the fault was all the directors and/or other cast members fault. He or she would be using the Transfer method because he or she would be passing the movies’ failure onto the others; when in truth the fault was all his or hers.

In my opinion I believe Bandwagen is the most affective type of propaganda. This is because people are more likely to do and agree with something that they see other people doing. Tne most ineffective way would have to be name calling. If a canidate has to say bad things about the other party, just to get the focus off of them, the should'nt be the one elected anyways. These are just a few of my opinions about propaganda.
A: The Republicans is who I am for. The things they are against is the things we need. Like anti-abortion that is wrong and a lot of poeple think that. They also believe in a strong national defense. We need that to protect all the US citizens who did nothing wrong. Then they want individual rights which who be a very strong plank/platform.The weakness is anti-abortion, then are a lot of poeple who are for and who are aganist. That means there will be a lot of poeple ot voting for a republican because they can't kill their baby and get away with it. Then you got the Democrats believeing in Pro-choice(HA!), Government suportting low income families, and for gay marriage. The weakness might be gay marriage and supporting low income families. One there a bunch of christians, who drink and have a bad mouth. But it is wrong to have two women love each other. Then poeple live off the goverment. You have men with a felon that will live off the government. Then you got a bunch of lazy "trash" living off the government so that would be a major weakness.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion on propaganda is that some it is just a total waste of the supporters money. There is no need to waste that money on bad mouthing the other candidate when you could tell us the truth. Its okay to say that they may have to increase taxes because that may be needed somtimes. There's no need for the trash talking at all.
