Economic choices [due Friday December 18]
America has been referred to as the Land of Plenty and the Land of Opportunity which has led to untold millions of people immigrating here. In contrast, people in most other countries have to make life or death economic decisions because of the lack of economic opportunity. To what degree has American life effected the way we make economic choices?

By us being already citizens of america we kinda take advantage of that because we have never exsperienced what immigrates have so,we tind to spend unnessary money and end up in debt. Thats bad for the economic world because sometimes the bank has no choice but to pay off the things that we dnt wanna continue paying for it and they have to repo it or forclose on it.
ReplyDeleteAmerican life had effected us to make good and bad economic choices. Already being an American citizen we take advantage of all the opportunities we have here, we have not experienced what other people in other countries have. We tend to spend a lot of money on things we don't need, therefore we go into debt. We as Americans have a lot of economic opportunities we take for granted.
ReplyDeleteby us being already citizens of america we kinda take advantage of that because we have more exsperienced. we try to spend money and then end up in dept. and people strat to lose there homes and cars.
ReplyDeleteEveryday we effect the economy. We at least buy one thing a day. Buying that one thing effects the factors fo production. The factor is a everyday thing for adults adn kids. Adults having to give labor and buying food. Kids buying snacks and clothes also effects the economy.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think we take what we have for granted. We have many things other countries would not dream of having. For example, if someone had five dollars we would end up spending it on something we don't really need, an immediate gratification, like spending it on going to the movies with a friend instead of spending it on food, saving it or using it for something necessary. On the other hand if some one from a really poor country was given five dollars they would spend it on food, clothes {nothing too exaggerated either} or other things like that. We take it for granted because most of the time you if you live here you never think that you'll need it later, usually you don't think about needing it in the future at all and those are the decisions that affect you later. We take it for granted because you always think you can make it up for it later. But that is how we usually end up in debt. We make a lot of choices that would only be thinking about today and not tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteEveryday American citizens is effecting the economy, in many different ways. It could be pollution etc. Some things are just unnessacary to have but we have them anyways. Everybody now is trying to do things to save money and everyone is going green with trying to help out. We take advantage of the little things and the majority of America is spoilt, I would say. Especially around my age. Instead of spending money on little stupid things we should save our money and buy food, clothing or something we need to survive.
ReplyDeleteWell we are citzens of America and we all take advantages.Money is a big part of people because we spend money all the time and the products are getting low. If we dont save money and the ecomony does go bad then there will not be a lot of ways of living. The ecomony will soon be paying are debts.
ReplyDeleteWe have not went through what other people in other countries have had to of gone through economicly. Our economic desicisons arent life threathing deicsions but some bad economic decisions can make your life non-enjoyable. Some americans make bad economic decisions like on things we dont need. For example that new Bmw or whatever it may be. The economic decisions of america have been affective by how lucky we are.
ReplyDeleteIf I lived in another Country, I would look down on the amount of money most American citizen’s waste on non-important items. For example, an American citizen is given 20 dollars, compared to someone from a different Country getting the same amount of money. The person from the other Country would spend the money much wiser than the average American citizen would. The economic decisions other Country’s make are mostly life or death, But most Americans can go blow 20 bucks without even thinking twice about it. We, very much so, take advantage of the opportunities we are given in America. I believe if we(Americans) would have to experience what a lot of other Country’s are going through in their everyday life economically, we might actually be thankful for what we do have.
ReplyDeleteHalf way across the world, in third world countries, people struggle everyday just to survive. Here in America, we consume so many products without evern thinking twice about where the products come from. The economic choices that we make today comes partly from out life styles. Most average Americans live in well-to-do families that can afford luxuries that people in other countries cannot afford. People from other countries would look at us and see how much money we have and consider us to be spoiled. If Americans would stop and consider all the items that we buy, we would see that not everything is not nessecary to survive. If Americans had to spend one day in a third world country, we would not know how to survive.
ReplyDeleteUs americans is affecting the way we make economic choices by spending money on stuff we don't really need in life. Americans today can take ten dollars and spend most of it on useless items instead of getting something that will last or important to you. If americans went to a country that was poor and doesn't have the things we have, us americans propably wouldn't know what to do. It maybe could change how we spend our money and thank god for what america has.
ReplyDeleteThe vast majority of Americans have never truly needed for necessities such as food, shelter, clothing, or medical care. To us we need for what is truly a want. Such as: television, computers, comfy recliners and ipods. In foreign countries a lot of folks would be grateful for a meal a day or a clean drink of water. Being born citizens of America I don't think we can even comprehend what those people must endure. Due to this I believe the economic decisions Americans make today are selfish and not very well thought through, just simply seeking instant gratification. Which then leads to people in dept, digging our country into a deeper financial rut. Compared to other countries, if they had a chance would probably think through their financial decisions well. We take what we have for granted each and every day.
ReplyDeleteThe way our economy is here in America we have so many choices to what we can get. We take advantage of the choices we have here because in many countries they have no choice or say so. This has caused our economic decisions to not be so good in certain situations but its not all bad. we have control over our lives and we have many goods that we can make choices on that only help us out like machines and devices that are made to help us out. our government has a mixed economy that just regulates certain things such as ares of business just to protect consumers. Sometimes we do spend money here and there on items not needed a lot. like if we have a few bucks we would go spend it on unecessary things instead of saving it up for something more necessary. We americans do not know what it is like to not have our own economic decisions and choices so we take advantage of having them.

ReplyDeleteThe way our economy is in America is we buy what we want! not what we need! People in other countries would probably kill just to have a meal a day and we americans get mad when we dont have time to watch television one day. People in other countries have to make life and death economic choices. Parents want eat for like a week just so their children can eat and we get mad when we can't go out to eat. I think that the economic decisions that americans make today is they make their decisions based on what they want. They are very selfish and they do not think the deciosions through.
ReplyDeleteI think American life has affecyed everyway citizens act. To me, the standards for America are to high. Maybe that is the reason why we are in a recission now. People are to focused on buying wants instead of needs. Most Americans are to unfocused on the most important things for the economy.

ReplyDeleteAs American citizens we dont think our economic decisions through. People in other countries dont have many opportunities dealing with economics. Given the chance, I think they would make wiser decisions than Americans. We take everything for granted and have no idea what others are going through.
ReplyDeleteAmerica is amazing. As a citizen, I believe that the greatness of this country has made so many people greedy. Even though our economy is bad, Americans buy excess of almost everything. The money that flows through this country in a day would be a substantial amount for some countries in a YEAR. Americans have been so blessed in this country with EVERYTHING anyone would ever need. People have started to make better economic choices in the past few years. A while back, people would buy whatever they wanted to buy because they knew more money would be coming to them the next week. Now, families do not spend as much because they try to save up their money in case something bad happens. Some people live in fear that their job may be gone the next day. Therefore, people don't spend money like it's a never-ending tree anymore because most of the time, it's not. Even though the times are tough, America is still a thriving country compared to others. People spend their money according to how the economy is doing. Bad economy= less spending. Good economy= more spending.
ReplyDeleteAnerica is great! i believe as a citizen of NC.
ReplyDeletethat this country has made so many people get greedy with money and selfishness has toke over them. Also we do not think our decisons through in awhole bunch of situations such as the war. An people in like china, an other foreign countries have limited or no opportunity's dealing with econmy things. An they obviously make more wiser decisions than us americans. Because we take advantage of every possible thing an dont have a clue what others far away go through.
Most americans don't realize how fortunate we are to live in a free country. We have so many options and choices, and we are not controlled heavily by the government. Therefore most of us americans have taken advantage of the economic freedoms we have. The government here in the United States has started putting vague limitations on our consumers and producers, yet it still is a free country and we aren't a command economy. We are lucky and therefore we should make wise economic decisions and not put ourselves and our families in economic debt, that will take 2+ lifetimes to pay back.
ReplyDeleteWe as Americans have not experienced the difficulties many people in other countries have faced, and this makes many of us frugal with our money. In America people don't realize how fortunate we are to live in a country where jobs are available to many people. By not realizing this Americans have become somewhat spoiled and constantly spend money on expensive things they can barely afford, these irresponsible decisions
ReplyDeleteare the reason we are in the situation we are in right now. The American lifestyle has caused people to forget how to work hard and spend money wisely.
Everyday in the United States is a blessing and most, if not all, citizens take for granted everyday nonessentials. Many Americans have had decent and happy lives, we go through our days with our computers, cell phones, shelter, restaurants and all the other things we have and complain about. We say that these things don’t work well, are uncomfortable, not good or are too slow. People in other countries may go without a decent meal or shelter for days on end. The American economy may seem bad to us as a nation now, but if someone less fortunate came from another country and economic lifestyle, they would probably consider our economy heaven and not utter a complaint.
ReplyDeleteRight now, as a country, we are not spending as much as we used to due to a bad economy. All in all we have been brought down to the level of most of the other countries in the world, but there are still countries out there that we are not even close to in terms of how much we spend. Still, we think a dollar is nothing in our world because it buys the smallest items. In places like Africa that are still seeing the sames prices we did in the 1900's, or just not having nothing to buy at all, would kill to receive a United States of America dollar. Eventhough we may be down a couple billion dollars and financial experts are saying it will end our counrty, we are still making it through life while always being in debt practically since the country was created. That's why our countries so great because we can get down but keep pulling through with a few cut backs here and there. Almost 70% of other countries can not function like that and when they go down they hit rock bottom and that's why people die just trying to make it here.
